As a 31-year-old, multi-faceted artist, from Birmingham, Ala. by way of Tuscaloosa, Larry Silver creates fanciful, yet vibrant masterpieces with intricate details that flow together to radiate through the lives of people. He captures the soul of each figure he illustrates in paintings and charcoal drawings.

 Silver is a self-taught artist that has been honing his craft since a child, creating and mocking technique from those more advanced.  Feeling inspired by legendary artists, such as Charles White, Ernie Barnes, Kevin Williams, Jean Michel Basquiat and Salvador Dali, Silver wanted to challenge himself further in oil painting. Through this medium, he wanted more than just to learn how to paint, but to enlighten others by visually showcasing the beauty of our culture to not just tell a story, but make the viewer truly feel the details in the works of the painting. 

In present day, Larry Silver continues his enlightenment journey through the arts, inspiring people internationally by creating concepts around culture, and telling stories through the eyes of muses to encourage others to find the infinite amount of abilities within themselves.

He's created aesthetic commission pieces utilizing the mediums of oil paint and charcoal for drawings with subject matter such as conversational pieces, event re-enactments, musical depictions, iconic figures and more. 

His client list stretches throughout the United States to Canada, in institutions within the southern region, such as East Tennessee State University, Alabama State University, Huntingdon College and more. Silver was also featured in media platforms such as the Birmingham Times and Bham Now’s “Top 12 Artists to Make a Difference in the Environment”. 

His artistry was shown on Montgomery’s WSFA News Channel for his solo art exhibition at Huntingdon College in February 2023. You can also find Silver’s art on the cover of 2020 Umoja Magazine in Madison, Wisconsin as part of their get out the vote magazine edition. 

His work is also in the Library of Appaso Ghana through the Birmingham Chapter of the Links Emerging artist program. Silver has completed work for numerous galleries across the southern region and private art collectors across the country and outside of U.S.

Silver's central goal is to highlight the positive aspects of African American culture through historic, imaginative and effervescent artistic depictions. He aspires to one day leave a mark on the art world that will pioneer an increase in diversity within the profession and move others to express themselves through art to truly make a difference in the lives of people.
